Valley County Beauty Co. was founded when Alyssa Szczelina & Augustine Hager moved from Queen Creek, Arizona to Donnelly, Idaho in 2025. We were enamoured with the gorgeous mountain views and small-town warmth. As we settled in, we noticed something important: there were very few local hair & makeup artists available in an area that hosts so many weddings and events. Rather than relying on out-of-town teams and high travel fees, they saw an opportunity to offer something closer to home - a local beauty team that understands the area, the community, and what it takes to not only be a glam team but another pillar of support on the morning of a big event. Serving as a go-to for local and out of town clients needing hair styling and makeup for their most memorable moments. With over six years of experience working together in Colorado, Arizona, and now Idaho, Alyssa & Augustine have done a little bit of everything: weddings & elopements, photoshoots, boudoir, music videos, special effects makeup & body painting, costume & cosplay looks, wig styling, runway work, you name it! Their artistry has been published multiple times in various magazines, including internationally. Now, they're bringing that same level of creativity, skill, knowledge, attention to detail and professionalism to the brides, couples, families and community members of Valley County Idaho and beyond.

The name "Valley County Beauty Co." is an ode to the place they live- the lakes, pines, mountains and small communities that make this part of Idaho feel so special- and to the beauty they hope to add to the memories made here. The team serves those planning weddings, photoshoots or special events in McCall, Donnelly, Cascade and nearby areas, with no travel fees for bookings within Valley County.

From mountain-top weddings to elegant lakeside events, we bring professional artistry and a reassuring presence to your special day in Valley County.

Alyssa Szczelina

Makeup Artist

Hello, I’m Alyssa! I am the resident MUA, blending eight years of professional experience with a lifetime of artistic passion & curiosity. My love for makeup started at home, watching my Mom get ready & trying to recreate the looks I saw in the mirror. That curiosity grew into hours of experimenting with colors & eyeliner shapes as a teenager, learning special effects makeup through Youtube tutorials, and eventually becoming the go-to makeup artist for local theater productions, friends and family.
Wanting to turn my passion into a profession, I trained & became certified at a makeup artistry school in Scottsdale, Arizona. Since then, I have worked with countless clients for weddings & elopements, special events (including 2023 Super Bowl), publications, runway shows, various small brands, even music videos - and I STILL light up every time someone sees their finished look for the first time! Even through an accident that left me partly disabled and needing to walk with a cane, I fight with passion and ferocity to maintain my dreams and my artistry.

My style is intentional, soft and detail driven. Drawing from my fine art background in drawing & painting, I use color theory and an eye for balance to design looks that enhance each person's favorite features and honor their natural beauty. I am especially known for precise color matching, enhancing eye color & shape, creating glowing velvety skin, and customizing lashes to your eye shape so they never feel heavy or overpowering. Cleanliness and care are at the heart of how I work. I built my kit with high-quality, long wearing products chosen for performance & comfort. I am meticulous about sanitation so every client can fully relax knowing they are in safe, skilled hands.

In the chair, I aim to bring a calm, upbeat and encouraging energy. I love being a hype-woman for my clients, sharing tips & tricks, listening to what they truly want, and making sure they feel comfortable speaking up about any tweaks or changes. I have a strong background in customer service, so I value open & honest communication highly. My hope is that every person who sits in my chair walks away feeling seen/understood, and like the most radiant, memorable version of themselves - supported, confident, and absolutely ready to SHINE!

Outside of work, I love being in nature, animals, music, poetry, art and most of all, creating gorgeous makeup looks! I would be honored & thrilled to be a part of your special moments.

Augustine Hager

Hair Artist

Hi, I'm Augustine! I am the Hair Artist at V.C Beauty Co., bringing six years of professional hairstyling experience and a unique background in the wedding world as a skilled florist. My love of styling started early, braiding and curling my mom and sister's hair for school, dances, and special occasions, long before it became a career. When Alyssa began working professionally in makeup & needed a trusted partner for hair, I stepped in, trained in Scottsdale, Arizona and quickly fell in love with the art of hairstyling from bridal and events to out-of-the-box creative work.

I specialize in voluminous bouncy curls, sleek & polished styles, romantic updos, braids, and creative looks that feel both secure and comfortable. I am especially known for styles that last- hair that holds its curl, stays in place and still looks beautiful hours later on the dance floor. With a strong eye for detail and customization, I design each style to suit the person in my chair rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

Kindness, communication and care are the center of my work. I bring positive, uplifting vibes to the getting-ready space and I'm committed to making every client feel listened to, supported, and completely taken care of from the moment they sit in my chair. With a strong background in customer service, I prioritize clear and open communication, thoughtful questions, and taking the time to adjust and refine until each client truly loves their hair.

Drawing from my love for floral design, I approach hairstyling much like building an arrangement- balanced, intentional and beautifully structured, with every piece in its place. Outside of work, I love to travel and explore nature looking for wildflowers & rocks/crystals, animals, music, rollercoasters, and creating beautiful things in all forms.

Above all, I see every service as an opportunity to help someone's confidence bloom so they can walk into their day feeling incredible and unstoppable. I look forward to helping you create the most beautiful memories.
